Kauai: Hawaii's
Island of Discovery - Kauai, aptly nicknamed the Garden Isle, is the
Hawaiian island treasured for its lush tropical greenery and sparkling sand
beaches. Visitors to the island worship not only its postcard-perfect beauty,
but Kauai's diversity of cultures, activities, shopping, and dining.
Verdant rainforests, impressive golf courses, vibrant scenery, friendly faces,
blissful breezes, and striking waterfalls are just a few of Kauai's spectacular
offerings to its guests. Exploring Kauai is to unearth secrets more than five
million years old, the world's greatest natural wonders, and an island that
proves that, like fine wine, some things get better with age. |
Kauai - Despite its small size—about 550 square miles—Kauai has four
distinct regions, each with its own unique characteristics. The windward coast,
which catches the prevailing trade winds, consists of the North Shore and East
Side, while the drier leeward coast encompasses the South Shore and West Side.
One main road nearly encircles the island, except for a 15-mi stretch of sheer
cliffs called Napali Coast. |
Napali
- This fifteen-mile stretch of rugged coastline on the northwest shore of Kauai
literally means "the Cliffs." Much of Na Pali Coast is inaccessible due to its
characteristic sheer cliffs that drop straight down, thousands of feet into the
ocean. Sailing,
rafting and
hiking are the
best ways to experience Na Pali's myriad of natural wonders. A must-do Kauai
activity. |
